Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Florida

I recently directed an indie film, I am the director. I was replacing a previous director.

I finished it, came out beautiful, but as I was doing final edits, the producers told me that the previous director was not only the copyright owner of the script, but wanted changes, severe changes. They could not fight him, and then presented me with the hard task of editing this other guy's version of the film, I could not finish the film as it was written, had to finish this other version....I had not choice, so I walked off the film.

I want my name off this film, as this new cut could ruin my reputation, it is...that bad now. What advise can you give me?
