Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

16 year old daughter wants to live with biological father

After a traumatic accident I regretfully signed papers for my daughters mother and her husband to adopt my daughter. I received a phone call from my daughter saying she wants to come live with me. I know I can't legally help her but can someone else help her to get here? What do I need to do once she is here?

Re: 16 year old daughter wants to live with biological father

Your daughter is a minor and legally she is a stranger to you. You should do nothing without the full knowledge and express consent of her legal parents -- otherwise you could be creating big problems for yourself (and perhaps also for your daughter). If necessary, a lawyer representing you could communicate with your daughter's parents on your behalf and try to secure their consent to your daughter spending time with you. Jeremy Morley
