can I add my grandson to my will by writing his name getting it notarized ?

No. A codicil must be executed in the same way a will is executed.

No. Mr. Slater is correct. You must do a codicil to the will. However, if your will is very old you might want to have it reviewed and also have your directives done at the same time. Directives are a Living Will and a Health Care Surrogate - someone you want named to review your records if you are determined to be terminal.
