Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I just got married and my son from a previous relationship wants me to change his last name to my new husband's name. He gets a Social Security survivor benefit because his father died. If I change his last name will I lose that social security benefit?

I recommend you contact the Administration. Those rules seem to change every few months and I cannot speculate as to the answer.

You will not lose the SS benefits. Use a lawyer to do the name change, it requires a court action.
