Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am trying to renew my 11 yr old son passport. Since my divorce in 2004, I have been able to renew my son's passport without other persons signature/consent by providing divorce documentation. This year, his renew application has been rejected multiple times requesting a court order permitting the applying parent to apply for child passport or court order granting sole legal custody to apply for passport or court order authorizing the minor to travel outside of US. My son has resided with me since the divorce & the other person left Florida since then, hasn't be involved in my son's life since divorce, & hasn't been able to locate. I have no more documents to send, what else can I do to renew my son's passport?

You will need court intervention and must make good faith efforts to locate the father.

I suggest you have the court prepare the Order that is most likely to be approved. YOu have listed three - so I would ask the court to issue an order permitting the applying parent to apply for child passport.

The law has changed you have to get written consent from the father or a court order authorizing a passport.
