Is there a statute of limitations on unpaid medical bills for a minor child in the state of FL? I am required to pay half of all unpaid medical, pay support and carry insurance. I do not carry insurance because my child does not live in the same state as me and I have state supplemented insurance. With that insurance you are required to live in the state. So legally, I can not carry the insurance, financially I can not afford to pay private insurance on top of the child support I pay weekly, or I would have private insurance myself and for my family (I am remarried). I pay support each week and would have paid the uninsured medicals but my former spouse never sent me a bill or statement or anything for them. She is now coming after me for 3 years worth of bills (unpaid medicals for necessary and cosmetic procedures and the cost to carry our child on her medical insurance, our child was put on her insurance to begin with because she moved out of state without telling me or giving me an address even though I have visitation and am a law abiding citizen, no domestic issues, she is just pretty much evil I guess, and it took me over 2 years to find my child). The amount is staggering. There isn't anything I could have done to cover our child for insurance, but I could have paid these bills had they been submitted as they happened, but to hold them for 3+ years and hit me with them all at once? There is no way I can make payments on them that would satisfy her. Also it should be noted that when the insurance and unpaid medical bills were agreed on I had not been ordered to pay support because we had shared custody, then my job made me move a distance that did not allow for that arrangement so I voluntarily went and offered to pay support but the insurance/ unpaid medical was not modified at the time, as it was not an issue. Now, apparently, it is. The bills she is submitting start from the date I located her and my child, but none before that from when I could not find them.

There's not a statute of limitation on these bills. Your question is not something that can be answered online. You need to consult face to face with a family law lawyer in your town as soon as possible.
You may be in deep trouble and need an attorney ASAP. Most Judges do not care if you are remarried, have other children or about any other personal problems. If the Order says you are to provide insurance and pay, they will enforce it.
There is no statute of limitations per se. Use of a lawyer is recommended.
