Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

A family member filed a false police report against me accusing me of stealing his credit card from his house. The report basically is 3 lines saying he gave me the keys to his house when he went on vacation. And that I went to his house in his absence and that I stole his credit card.

I have a witness who is willing to testify that the witness is the one who was given the keys of the house. Also, the witness has some text messages confirming the credit card was given to him by consent.

Can I have a case of defamation against this liar? Also, the report is filed in Miami Dade County, Florida. What are the implications of filing a false police report? Thank you

were you arrested or detained? did you suffer actual damages? you need to seek some legal help with all your facts not must this outline. if you were arrested than deal with the criminal matter first.
