Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Pro Se Filing an amended complaint

I am working on an amended complaint but live in another state then where the case/original complaint is filed.

Is it correct to send this in via mail with a prestamped self addressed envelope for return to me? Does an amended complaint cost anything to file?

In Florida, there is no cost to file any pleadings once the initial filing fee has been paid. You can mail the amended complaint (if proper). There is no need for a self addressed stamped envelope unless you want a time stamped copy back from the court.

If the pleading is to be filed in another state, the laws/rules of that state would control and could be very different as some states do charge to file certain pleadings.

Re: Pro Se Filing an amended complaint

If the original complaint has already been filed, then there is no cost to filing an amended complaint.

If the original complaint has been served already, then you nbeed only send the amended complaint by regular mail.
