Legal Question in Health Care Law in Florida

punctured colon

I had a routine colonoscopy whereby the physician punctured my colon. I had to have surgery and was, subsequently, hospitalized for 7 days. I may have signed a release indicating there was a small risk involved in the procedure. Do I have any legal recourse against the doctor's practice or his personal assets?

Re: punctured colon

That is generally a risk of the procedure. It can be negligent given the specific facts, but I suspect that is in the informed consent that you signed.

You do not indicate what county you are in, or provide a zip code, but you should contact an attorney who is experienced with medical malpractice claims to evaluate your situation.
