Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida

Hi. I'm John. Me and my partner just got married. My visa will expire on April 20 2016. What the next step I need to do to be legal here in the United States. Can I apply for green card now?

Hi John. Congratulations. If your spouse is a U.S. citizen, then you can file for adjustment of status any time; it doesn't have to be before April 20th. Although the sooner the better for, several reasons I won't go into here. If you require further assistance, feel free to send me an email.

Hi, John. Congratulations on your new marriage! You failed to mention if your partner is a citizen or a permanent resident of the United States. If so, you may be able to request an Adjustment of Status by filing a Family Petition, granted that you are admissible by law otherwise.
