Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Employer Abuse

Please read following message sent to me by my boss and give me your opinion as to whether this is appropriate behavior of my boss who is a lawyer:

Message sent from boss:

I have said for years that I want attachments to letters in my correspondence file and yet it does not happen. Well this is the time it is necessary and it was not done, because I have look in our file and the statutes referred to in my letter have not been included in the appendix, one because the letter was not read at the time it was included and two becaue in our file there are no attachments.

This is very unfair to me, particuarly since I ask, not demand which I should, and no one listens. There is a reason I that things should be done the way I ask, and those reasons have come from 31 years of experience not 5 or even 13. Now we have a mess and not sufficient time to fix it.

You get mad at me when I insist, well I am sorry, but from now one it is my way and I encourage you NOT to argue with me. That will be a mistake. I am very unhappy about this and the pressure is on me.

Re: Employer Abuse

There is nothing wrong with that message. He is the boss and has the right to demand that things are done the way he wants it. If not he can discharge you. On the other hand, if you do not like it you can quit. It sounds like he has asked many times and you still do not do it as he needs it done. So, if you value your job and paycheck, I suggest doing it the way he wants it and becoming a better employee, not looking for ways to blame him or others. Think of it this way. If it was your company, you would want people who you pay to follow your orders. Perhaps your boss is not "nice", or does not have a good bedside manner, but there is nothing illegal or actionable about that.
