Can I be fired for being sick?

I am a host at a resteraunt, recently

I've had bad luck and came down with

a very severe case of the flu. One

week later I now have bronchitis. I

have been forced to miss quite a bit of

work over the past month, can my

employment be terminated for being

sick with an airbourne sickness?

Yes -- in Florida, in the absence of a written employment agreement to the contrary, you ate employed at will. Employees have very few rights (you know who controls that decision) and you can be fired for any reason other than the federally protected ones of race, gender, religion or age. Those are quite difficult to prove.
