Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

non-compete contract

I have been employed with my company for three years. A few days ago, my employer asked me to sign a non-compete contract which limits me from working in the same field for two years and for the entire state of Florida. I am positive that if I don't sign it, I will get fired. What should I do? I am not sure what my rights are, and I don't know that I can afford to pay a lawyer. I was quoted $275 for one initial visit. Please note: the non-compete contract was given to me at my annual performance review. I received 5/5 on all areas of performance and was told I was excelling at my current job. However, I did not receive a raise. I was told by my employer that I wasn't receiving a raise because they needed to have enough money to pay others. I was very disappointed. Most importantly, I am concerned that I will be fired if I don't sign the non-compete contract.
