Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Slander in reports

I am a former employee of a local government. The place where I was employed had an internal investigation into the intimidation, misconduct and abuse by supervisors. They were all suspended, but a judge threw out their suspensions because of lack of due process. The report is now a matter of public record for anyone to review. The investigation report includes interviews of employees and I am told by a reliable source that my name is mentioned throughout. The malicious lies about me include sexual misconduct at work, during working hours and with different men. I have tried to get a job with the local government again but I don't even get an interview. I'm thinking it may be in response to these vicious lies, since I had outstanding reviews while an employee, received no reprimands, and gave 2 weeks notice upon leaving. Do I have any recourse to clear my name and not be banned from employment with this local government?

Re: Slander in reports

The information may not be illegal even if factually inaccurate, and unfortunately, it depends on the specifics of your situation. Regardless, the cost of pursuing such a matter would likely be prohibitive to the potential benefit.
