Want to break my lease..

I have a lease that is up in January, but I want to break my lease. My car has been vandalized twice while I have been living here. First, the windows were busted in, the second time my car was keyed. Also many other cars have been broken into and keyed. I am scared that these people will decide to break into apartments next. I have a 6 month old daughter and I just want to live somewhere safe. When I moved into this complex, the office told me they have police monitor the complex at night. The police are not here often enough, and definatly not as often as the women advertised. What should I do?

Unfortunately, you are probably stuck with the lease unless you can convince the management to voluntarily allow you to terminate the lease early. This might be accomplished by citing all the problems that have been encountered and the lack of proper security. You may suggest to them that you feel unsafe and will go to the local newspaper and make this known. They may decide that it is easier to allow you to leave than to deal with a problem tenant.
