Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Our Landlord has been court ordered to sell the property. The Broker told us to rent a storage unit to put some of our things in to make the home appear larger or we could vacate the premises. We have a lease until 12/31/15. She told us this on Tuesday and expects it to be done by the weekend. What rights do we have?

They cannot have you out without giving you adequate notice. The sale of the property is subject to your lease. Your lease agreement controls the rights and obligations of the parties.

Although Mr. Stein may be correct, you should review your lease and if need be have a lawyer review the lease with you.

Just the same, the Broker is not in privity of contract with you and has no legal standing to tell you anything.

I suggest you seek an qualified attorney for a consultation. Knowledge is Power; know your rights.

It is my assumption that you are being told to do something that you are not obliged to do.

I hope this is helpful.
