Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I live in Sanford Fl.,I recently rented an apartment and the apartment is on the top floor and there is a chiller fan on the roof that is very noisy, there is also a constant loud hum in the apartment. These noises give me headaches, sharp pains in my head and keep me awake.I asked to have my apartment changed as soon as available.I was told I was first on the list by one person and told I was second on the list by another. They also told me they were going to charge me a 350.00 transfer fee.I am at the point where I don't know how long I can go on here and I have a one year lease. What can I do?I can't even unpack!I am very frustrated with the entire situation,I am 62 years old and need help.Kathy

Examining the unit was your responsibility prior to your signing a lease. Did you have a walk through? Any willingness they have to move you at this time is likely generous on their part and outside the terms of your contractual relationship. Work it out with them as you likely have very little legal standing to break the lease. You may want to have the decibel level checked and see if it violates any codes.
