Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Hi. I have a Q.

I am renting a condo/apartment in Tampa Florida and my lease expires June 2017.

I have just been offered a new job out of state. I notified my apartment management/realtor because I expected to give notice and continue to pay rent 60 days even tho my new job requires me to move within 30 days.

The agent said I am responsible for 10 more months rent payments and she will take me to court.

Is this correct??

Your lease agreement controls. You don't have some inherent right to terminate the lease with 60 days notice. They also don't have a firm entitlement to 10 months rental, as they have to mitigate their damages by re-renting the property. Seek some legal guidance along with your actual written documentation
