Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Renting a Foreclosure

I am currently renting a home on a 12 month lease contract. The home owner just informed me that the house is foreclosing. I have 6 mo. left on the lease, am I able to break it early to find another place to live now? And should I be paying rent if he is not paying on the mortgage?

Re: Renting a Foreclosure

His not payingthe mortgage does not affect your obligation to pay rent, which remains.

I would tend to agree with the answer the previous answer but with the understanding that if the house was foreclosed and you no longer could live there are no obligation to pay. If you are unsure about how to handle negotiating your way out of lease send an e-mail to me with your phone number so I can speak with you.
