Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

We are renting a house, signed the lease in December 09 for one year. We are now having a rat problem in the house and the owner said today it's been an ongoing problem. We didn't know this when signing the lease. Do we have a legal right to break our lease?

You probably don't have a legal right to terminate your lease. However, you do have the right to have the rat problem remedied by the landlord.
