Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I am sueing a defendent and I would like to know. The defendent burnt holes in my carpet in two different adjoing rooms if I recarpet these two rooms with new same quality carpet is this deamed as a betterment?

Depends on how long the lease was and how long the carpet was present in the home. If the carpet had to be replaced even without the burns than likely not going to be compensable against former tenant. If carpet still had useful life, than tenant may responsible for the loss of that useful life. Not likely that 100% of the costs of carpet will be imposed on tenant.
