Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Is there a time limit on getting a deposit returned? Every time I had made the request there was a reason she didn't have it. Then things got complicated and I had forgotten about it. The property is behind a locked gate so I can not just drive up and ask again.

If the deposit is related to a residential lease then yes there is a time frame in which the deposit should be returned. The landlord must notify the former tenant, in writing, within 15 days of the end of the lease, IF they intend to keep any of the security deposit. This is if you have provided them with a sufficient address.

If the landlord does not notify the tenant timely, then the security deposit must be returned within 30 days from the end of the lease. I hope this helps.
