Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Florida

i live in FL, my sister who lives in CT has, since last year, been holding a painting given me by our mother before she died. i had been living abroad, am home now and have asked for it back, she has refused to answer my email requests.

we have had a contentious relationship for a few years and last email from her, told me never to communicate with her ever again; so i guess she's using that as reason for not answering me. however, this painting IS mine and that is all i want, to be shipped to me and paid by me.

i have saved emails from her saying whenever i want the painting back, just ask. what to do? would a strongly worded letter from an attorney telling her to send and that this is theft, be enough? thank you

You have to pursue the return in CT. Seek help from an attorney up there. Did you deliver the painting to her in CT?
