Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Florida

Dear Sir/Madam, I am trying to obtain medical records and therefore I have sent the specific surgeon located in the Fort Lauderdale area a 'Hipaa authorization release form'. However, the surgeon/his staff have not been very willing to cooperate - probably since I'm in a position where I can file a complaint with the medical board against this surgeon. As such I am in search of an attorney who could sent out a letter requesting my medical records, to put a bit more pressure behind my message, and to receive a confirmation that the request for my medical records has been received by the surgeon. I don't know how to go about/where to find an attorney in the Fort Lauderdale area ,willing to write such a 'request for medical records, and what the costs would come down to. Thank you in advance.

Send a request for the records by certified mail, return receipt requested. Give the doc a reasonable time--- say 2 weeks -- to supply the records. If that does not work, send file a complaint with the appropriate agency. See attached link.

This will more than get the doc's attention.

Very few lawyers are going to get into a argument with a doc just for records unless it is connected with a case they have. We deal with docs all time time and we need their cooperation. Getting into a battle with them in an unrelated matter is not smart.

Good luck.
