Why would my insurance company need an affadavit with my assets and liabilities after a small car accident in the state of Florida?

Various reasons. On is that if you are being sued for damages then the information is probably being asked for by the plaintiff's attorney in order to determine whether their client should settle for the amount of your insurance policy limits.

If you have a limited liability policy, you may be on the hook for any excess judgment. You should retain private counsel to oversee your insurrance carrier.
