Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

I'm trying to break my real estate contract listing. The Broker says I can break it, but they hold the listing until mid January, 2017 and I cannot go with any other real estate company. I don't see this on the document. There is not a cancellation fee showing and the house was never shown in the 3 months. I want out of this contract!

The agreement controls the parties rights and obligations. you need to have it reviewed by an attorney. Most listing agreements provide that the broker retains a right to the real estate commission through the date the listing ends, even if you terminate it early, and further with regard to anyone who comes through their efforts. You need to be careful as there may be no specific cancellation fee, but you may be taking on the burden of their real estate commission even if you terminate the agreement.
