Legal Question in Tax Law in Florida

We have had our grandchildren living with us for 3 years and have received no child support. We went to file our taxes this year and just found out that the dad claimed the children. Is there anything we can do? He hasnt even seen the children for 3 years let alone supported them

Under the Federal Tax Code, the dad is not legally entitled to claim the children as exemptions; if you provided child support for the legally required period of the year, you are entitled to claim them as dependents. You can claim them; report the information to the IRS to support your claim.
