Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

My father passed away a few months ago in FL. I was appointed my father's Legal Guardian and I have POA for my elderly mother with dementia. I understand that in FL she is not liable for his many medical bills - he had no coverage other than Medicare and there is little money left. A) Could I be held liable for his bills as the Guardian ( I was required to become the Guardian by the hospital) ? B) What do I do RE: the creditors to inform them of my father's death while protecting my mother's few assets ? Thanks, N

A. no, you are not liable for your father's debts.

B. When you get a bill just write to tell them that he has passed away. It sounds like you are not going to open a probate, so let the creditors know that there are no assets . Get a copy of the death certificate so you can include a copy with it in the letter.
