Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

How to fight sale of house

I was raised in this house along with the other siblings. About 18 years ago, I was having difficulty and my mother had me move in with them! She never wanted me to leave afterwards!

For the 2 1/2 years, prior to this year, I was the sole Caretaker of my mom and dad! My mom has since passed away, and for the past year I have been my father's Caretaker!

I have been told by my brothers that when dad passes away, the house will be sold and there is nothing I can do about it.

Is this true? I have no rights after living here so long, or being the Caretaker of my parents?

Re: How to fight sale of house

That is correct. Living rent free in a house and being your parents caregiver does not give you any rights to the property. Your father can, obviously, create a will that gives you property; however, unless your father has a will that gives you the property or other assets, the assets will be divided among the children.
