Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida

I have an important legal

question that i really need an

educated answer to. I fell at work

about a month ago. First I went to

my own doctors before reporting it

to work. When I arrived at the

orthopedic doctor I filled out the

paperwork and mentioned it had

happened at work. The woman at

the front counter instructed me

that if

I wanted to be treated that day I

was to complete another copy of

the

paperwork stating that I fell at

home. Not knowing the severity of

what

I had done I completed the new

paper and said I had fallen in my

kitchen. The orthopedic doctor

sent me to a physical therapist.

When

the physical therapist asked what

had happened I mentioned it had

happened at work. He then told me

I could not be treated and advised

me

to tell my boss and have him do it

thru workers comp. A case was

opened

and I was treated by the workmans

comp doctors and began to receive

compensation for missing the last

month's work. I was informed on

Friday my case has been closed for

workers comp and I would be

liable

for all the medical attention I

received and the money that was

dispersed to me Plus possible

legal ramifications due to the

medical

records that i fell at home.

I'm very confused and very worried

about what might happen. What I

need

to know is what type of

representation I need in a situation

like this?

It is not a run of the mill workers

comp case and don't know exactly

what first step to make. Any input

you can give me would be so very

appreciated. I am broke without a

job and not to mention unable to

work

due to a torn oblique muscle that

has not healed in over a month.

Thank you,

Daren

Your best bet is to seek legal help immediately from a lawyer who does workers compensation. If you have a witness to the accident, secure the witness. Speak to the nurse to see if you can get her to remember the discussion, although I doubt she will be of any benefit since it is insurance fraud on her part. See www.FL-PI-Lawyer.com

You need a criminal attorney AND a w/c attorney. Your having signed the paperwork about an accident at home is a huge problem.
