Legal Question

Do I have any recourse

I was hurt on the job no compensation just hospital bills ex-employer never paid that was almost 1 year ago just foubd out I am in collection agency . Going towards credit report notified ex-employer still hasnt done anything about is he liable towards me believe this has hurt my beacon score what can I do. Thank You
