Legal Question in Medical Leave in Georgia

Fmla

I work for a large American corp. I am assigned to a military base in Italy. Mymother is dying and I need to take family medical leave. My employer says I'm not elegible because I work overseas and there are not at least 50 company employees within 75 miles. Does my military affilliation have any influence? My tax base is Georgia, can I apply for some sort of diability? Without FMLA, what are my leaave rights?

Hello and thanks for the contact. I am sorry to hear about your mother conditions.

I received your questions, but you need a US Lawyer specialized in Labor Law to give the correct reply to you.

I noted that you are currently in Italy, but I presume your work permit and all the rules are based in the US Labor Law since you work for a US Corp.

Generally, there are several colleagues that answer the same question and I am sure a Labor Lawyer will answer to you soon. If you do not receive an answer, you can ask directly such inquiries at the

Labor and Employment section, otherwise, I can try to help to find a right lawyer to you too.

All the best wishes,

Margaret
