Legal Question in Disability Law in Georgia

My boyfriend threatened to kill one of my friends, but he said it out of anger. He didn't really mean it because he's not a bad person, and he said this like in December and he hasn't followed through with anything. He doesn't even talk to this girl, or ever see her. She wants to press charges, but has no proof. And he's never gotten in trouble involving the cops before. Can he get jail time?

Normal people do not threaten to kill people. He needs to get counsel if charges are brought. He certainly could get jail time.
