Since we don't know who "they" are, what you mean by Went in front of trustee" or anything else about your case, no one here can tell you. One person can - your lawyer.

They? Who is they?

In any chapter 13, you should have a lawyer. You submit your plan. And in many cases, for various reasons, you and your lawyer may need to increase payments.

If you don't have a lawyer, you need one immediately.

But YOU set the payment, with your lawyer, but it must fit the guidelines of the law (as to the minimum unsecured pool, disposable income, repayment of secured claims, etc) so it is a calculated number.

Call me if you're in or near metro Atlanta and don't have a lawyer, because Chapter 13's without lawyers fail almost 100% of the time.
