Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Georgia

Deposition across state lines

Husband is filing for custody of his children who live in GA (We live in TN). Not due to anything other than he wants them. Both homes are stable. I have been sent document from ex-wife's lawyer to supply my own personal finanical information as well as our joint finances and to attend a deposition in GA to discuss finanical documents. Documents are not signed by a judge, they come from the attorney himself. Do I have to submit finanical records and attend deposition? Can I be supeona across state lines and forced to attend? Husband's lawyer suggesting I hire attorney. I feel this is not necessary. Any help to my questions are greatly appreciated.

Re: Deposition across state lines

The court does not have to sign the subpoena/request; the attorney may do it as an officer of the court. However, you should not be required to travel to Georgia for the deposition if you reside in Tenneesee. The deposition should be taken there. You will, however, have to provide the documents absnet some priviledge or confidentiality.
