Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Georgia

Illegal Search

My spouse was stopped inside a store by a security person. He told her he wanted to look inside of her bag. She asked what for, and showed him her reciept. He took her to the security room, searched her bag

and everything matched her reciept. I asked the

supervisor did the security suspect my spouse of

stealing, and he said no. He said they could check

anyone bag when ever they want to. I would like to

know have the law changed since I was a security

manager twelve years ago. My spouse is under the

doctor's care for her nerves, and is very shook up.

Not Clear On What You Want

How long did the loss prevention people for the store keep your wife? When you say she is experiencing nerve problems? Are you saying that the incident caused her to have medical problems? And if so, how much? What are your intentions with the case? The store can stop and inquire if it has reasonable suspicion something is going on. Even if they are wrong, but they had the reasonable suspicion and reasonably detained your wife in a reasonable manner, there may be no violations. However, you did not tell me all the details I need to know. If you want to pursue this further, please get in touch with an attorney and provide the attorney with more information.
