i typed my debit card number into a website on the web for a free trial. The website on the fourteenth billed me four times and also another website billed me twice. We called and canceled these and on the sixteenth another website billed me thirty-seven dollars. How did they get my card number and is this legal?

You told us how thye got your card number - you type it in. Never do that unless you are sure it is a reputable business. Cancel your card.
