Legal Question in Construction Law in Georgia

waiver of lien

We are a subcontracting company and we are looking at signing a contract to do work in and around Atlanta. The contractor is asking us to sign a waiver of lien for this job. We have falled to be paid by contractors in the past so my queston is ''If we sign this waiver of lien is there any course of action left for us in the event we do not get paid?''

Re: waiver of lien

Lien waivers are very common in your industry. It protects the property owner from a sub lien on the property for the GC's failure. So, if you cannot file a lien, you would look to the GC to satisfy the claim.
