Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

I had major work done by a dentist in 2009 totaling approx $4000. The bridge would only be available to me after full payment was received. While still employed I had paid $1400 and my insurance paid $963. I was laid off from work and was unable to make addt'l payments. That particular location is closed and my bridge was destroyed. The dentist collection office is calling for the balance due even though once payment is received I will still be out of a bridge. I was told that I had signed a contract to pay since I had not paid while the office still had my bridge they are not responsible because I breached the contract. Q: Am I still responsible to pay in full or part for dentures that have been destroyed. Also, can I receive any portion of the money I paid for something I do not have and the company cannot produce? I live in the state of GA.

Do NOT talk to the collector again before you see a lawyer. The bill may be too old to collect depending on when you last paid and what you signed. By the same standard, you are too late to probably get a refund. However, in talking about the debt you could restart the statute of limitations so you need to hang up the phone and see your lawyer.
