Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

Unable to cancel a magazine order

A telemarketer called me at my job saying that I get free magazines, and that I only had to pay shipping. The representative was very pushy and did not say that I would not be able to cancel my subscription.

But once I had time to think it over it added up to about $865 that is a lot of money for some magazines. So when I tried to cancel the subscription the rep told me I couldn't and that it would affect my credit. So what can I do. Thank you for time.

Re: Unable to cancel a magazine order

You do not provide all the terms of your agreement, whether they were discussed by phone (and perhaps recorded) or you received some paperwork. As a general rule, you never assume there is a right to cancel (or return, etc.) unless the agreement or store policy states otherwise. Assume there is no such right.
