Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
My 20 yr old daughter and her 18 yr old friend went out drinking about a week ago. When they left the bars they went to my daughters apartment where they were fussing back and forth with each other. The girl got in my daughter's face howling and my daughter finally hit her 2 or 3 times. They finally went to sleep and the next day nothing was said. Nothing was said for a week until her mother called me and said my daughter broke her daughter's nose and wants us to pay for medical bills. My question is what are our options in this matter and can they file a police report and have my daughter arrested a week after the incident? Are we legally responsible and what can happen to my daughter if we don't pay. She is in college with no job.

Yes she can be arrested. Get a lawyer now and determine with the lawyer what to do. If the bills are legitimate, paying them may be a smart move, but the lawyer needs to determine when and how.
