You need to contact the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education commonly referred to as TCLEOSE in Austin. That Agency will have the information you are seeking regarding Texas Peace Officers.

Even if you were to seal or expunge your record and get permission from TECLOSE most agencies would be reluctant to hire you.

My colleagues have written from the perspective of Texas, and I can not dispute what each has suggested.

In Georgia, I have been asked to assist one or two police officer applicants over the years, and while there has been reluctance to accept a candidate, the question depends in large measure on what the status of the criminal record is at the time of the application, what has transpired since the early infraction, and even some of the facts surrounding the earlier infraction. Simple possession will be viewed much differently than possession with intent to distribute, for example. It may also depend somewhat on the agency to which you apply.
