Hire a criminal attorney immediately, do not talk to detective or police without counsel present

They will tell you if you are innocent you do not need any attorney

They are wrong -- you need an attorney more if your innocent to ensure you are not charged or convicted of something you did not do

Good luck

It sounds like you are referring to a situation where a girl was under age and you may be suspected of statutory rape. Know that ignorance of her age will not matter to the investigator, and that anything you say will just be making the case for the detective. The problem is that, in most cases, if you refuse to talk to the officer, he or she will just assume you are guilty and use that as a basis to go ahead and charge you. Your best option is to hire an attorney and get some advice before you make any statement, and have the attorney with you when you do; or to not talk to them at all and expect to be arrested.
