Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

My son was arrested for speeding in Douglasville, GA driving 87mph in a 65 mph zone and he had a part of marijuana in the ash tray...Can he plead no contest and what type of fine or punishment might he receive..He is 23 years old and a Senior in college.

A no contest plea may or may not be accepted by a judge. It won't really make a difference though. Drug charges will result in an automatic license suspension. That is the most serious punishment he is looking at. Fine and probation is likely too. An attorney would look at the basis for the search and may be able to supress the evidence.
