Judges will be hesitant to violate you for non-payment if you can prove an inability to re-pay. However, they will not just take your word for it. If a probation revocation hearing is set, make sure to bring evidence of your income and expenses, including bank statement, pay stubs, a copy of your lease, etc. Also be prepared to give the Judge some alternatives, such as when you will be able to pay, and whether or not you would be willing to do community service in lieu of fines. If probation hasn't gotten this far yet, sit down with them and give them the same information to see if something can be done to extend the time you have to pay and work out other alternatives.
