Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

I will try to make this as brief as possible. In 1998 or 99 I was arrested for possession of marijuana. when we arrived at the police station I was put in a room. the officer came in and showed me a substance that he said he found under the seat of his patrol car. I assumed it was crack cocaine. it was not mine. I told him so. I was charged with it anyways. when I went to court I was given probation and not charged with the felony of the cocaine or meth. they said it was amphetamine*. I violated my probation and went back to jail. spent 3 months in and was released on time served. my attorney then reassured me that I was still not charged with a felony. In 2000 or 2001 I purchased a small handgun from a friend after I was jumped and robbed one night on my way home from work. I was a server and carried large sums of cash. Ignorant to firearms laws I carried this firearm in my jacket to and from work. one night a coworker "discovered" my firearm in my jacket and the manager called the police. I was charged with felon with a firearm. when I spoke to my attorney I told him I was not a felon. He told me that I was correct and my charge was reduced to a misdemeanor . Fast fwd to 2014 I was give a citation foe possession of marijuana. when I went to discuss the charges with my court appointed attorney and he said it would not go well for me because I am a felon. he looked over some paperwork and said, once again, I was correct. How do I fix this flaw on my record. I believe it has kept me from gainful employment, military service and the ability to exercise my 2nd amendment rights.

Huh...Is this the story you are running in your head? When you went to court, you were given probation. You did not enter a guilty plea, and were sentence to probation? You violated your probation, how? So, it is the questionable felony that is holding you back? Not the marijuana use? OK. Good luck
