Today I got a bill from a college for $3,996. The due date for the bill is in five days from today. Is this legal?

If you owe money, unless there is a contract or policy in place, you generally owe it now. There is no general waiting period. Otherwise, we don't have all the facts, such as what the bill is for, or what happens if you pay it after 5 days. It certainly is not likely to be the source of a legal dispute.
