Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Georgia

Contract Void?

I am a member of a professional singing group. We are currently have a contract (that expires 6/30/07) with a booking agency that recently informed us that she will be closing the business and re-opening under a new name and new business model. If she is closing the original agency does that void our current agreement with her? Especially since the new agency name and business model will no longer be the same as the original business model.

Re: Contract Void?

It depends on the terms of the agreement. It might allow the agency to temrinate the contract if the business is closing or for some other purpose. If not, you may a breach of contract claim against the signatory, but it sounds like you would be able to sign a new deal with basically the same terms.
