Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Georgia

Dancer/Actress

I just signed an exclusive contract with a dance agency. I can only get dance related work through this agent. There is a list of more auditions that i want to do for freelance work..if I get a DBA, is that only valid in Atlanta? Is there a Universal form like this where I can perform freelance work in other cities?

Re: Dancer/Actress

A DBA will not release you from your obligations under the contract. It is simply a fictitious name, but still the same person/entity.

Re: Dancer/Actress

You would be breaching the contract should you do freelance work. The agency you signed with would sue you and be entitled to damages. I suggest you review your contract to determine if there is a way to be released from your obligations.
