Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I have the name change kit and I am trying to change mine and my minor child's last names. How do I go about filing it so that is legal and binding??

You were ripped off by con-men. If you can return it, do so. There are two real ways to do this. The proper way is to hire a lawyer. Bear in mind name changes for children require the consent of the other parent unless there has been 5 years without any support or visitation. Some counties (Fulton, Dekalb and several more, but NOT yours) have free online forms (which means the scamsters sold you something that you didn't have to pay for). However, most people botch those especially with children, so the small cost of a lawyer is worthwhile.
